NSU AUDIO | PBA VIDEO | LIVE STATS FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The No. 12 Nova Southeastern University women's basketball team and Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish meet Saturday afternoon, with the Sharks looking to avenge last year's loss at the Rubin Center, starting at 2 p.m.
The Sharks (17-2, 9-1 SSC), ranked No. 20 a little over a year ago, were upset by PBA on their home floor 66-60. The Sailfish had a 40-27 advantage in the second half, shooting nearly 50 percent to the Sharks' 34.4 percent, to win only their fourth game ever in the series.
NSU got a bit of revenge earlier this year in Fort Lauderdale by an 80-66 margin, with four in double digits and four more scoring six or seven points. All told, 10 Sharks scored and combined for 52.5 percent shooting. The advantage now all-time is 21-4 in favor of NSU.
Last time out for the Sharks,
Kayla Wright (Jr., Lauderhill, Fla.) made 9-of-12 shots towards a 23-point effort while
Taylor Buie (R-Jr., Puyallup, Wash.) joined rarefied air as only the seventh 1,000-point scorer in women's history. The Sharks topped Lynn 68-51, and continue to lead the pack in the Sunshine State Conference standings, by a game in the loss column over Florida Tech and two now over Florida Southern, who fell to Barry Wednesday.
The Sailfish have been buoyed by the return of senior guard Janelle Cannon, with their five-game winning streak ending on Wednesday night. She averages 15.8 points and 8.3 rebounds per contest, which included leading the team to victories over over Florida Tech, Tampa and Eckerd.
Tip time is 2 p.m. from West Palm Beach, at all the links above.
